What is NCCRS OF CHICAGO

The charge is for the support and sustenance of an educational and research project on American culture for high school and college level students. The project is sponsored by the National Council for the Social Studies and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The funding comes from The Guggenheim Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and the Ford Foundation. Research is done by a team of sociologists, historians, and anthropologists from around the country who have expertise in American culture. They have written books and articles on various aspects of American culture, such as music, dance, art, film, literature, etc. The team also includes a few high school teachers who are familiar with the curriculum and can offer insights into how best to teach the material to students. The goal of the project is to create a resource that will be used by teachers to teach their students about American culture. In addition to providing resources for teachers, the project will also create opportunities for students to learn about American culture through research projects and field trips.
